Apple want to replace my imac's hard drive

Apparently some are dodgy. Has anyone had it done? I've had no problems with my imac at all. I just wondered how long the process takes...a day, a week?

Idiot warning here - does that mean that everything will be wiped from my iMac?

Depends what iMac you have - if you can use the iCloud then you can use that to store music and documents. If not, or it costs (sorry, I have some iMacs myself but nothing Apple is bought brand new by me, so things are 5+ years old generally!), then time to invest in some external storage drive. 50 to 100 quid should be able to get you from 500 to 2000 GB of storage and allow you to copy everything you have.

Sorry, no idea if they'd copy things for you - I would hope so, as they are asking for this, but just in case, would be ideal time to start backing up if you've not been doing so before...

Mrs had this. Backup everything up first, just in case. They quoted us 14 days, Mrs said that was unreasonable, got it back in 4.

Blimey 14 days. Might try and schedule for when we're away in Easter hols then! I will copy everything first. It's mainly loads of photos.
