Ipad screen cracked :-(

My beloved ipad has a crack on the screen :-(. It still works, but will it stop working? Can it be mended?

Depends on the location and the size of the crack but as a general rule the answer is yes.

Which model is it and how old ?

If you live near an Apple store you can take it and they will offer you either a quote for repair or a value to part-ex for a new one

I went in the apple shop and they didn't even look at it, just said £199 for a new one :-(

It is an ipad three, less than a year old, fairly big crack across the screen.

£199 for a new one, with your old one in part-ex ? Depending on model that might not be a bad deal.

If funds are tight then there are third party organisations that will will undertake the repair and the price varies from £50 to £200 but if you send it away to them makes sure to back up and then delete all your personal stuff from the iPad first.

I have home contents nsurance, I thnk I'll try them, but the £50 excess is hard for me atm.

Okay, bear in mind though the an updated ipad and ipad mini are being launched in Mid March, so if you do get one make sure that it is the latest model and not the last of the current batch.
