How do you set the options on a folder (windows) so it displays a certain 'view'

So if I open a folder of pictures it displays Thumbnails & If it's documents it shows 'details'?

Which version of Windows are you using?

Usually you can right click anywhere in the folder and select View>Thumbnails.

But can't you set it up so it always opens like that?

You can set up the default option via control panel > folder options.

When you set the view in individual folders it's meant to remember it... don't think you can set it according to contents though? or not in XP (if it's the PC I remember from before)
