Can someone who has a Humax YouView help me please (re editing channel list etc)

We're looking to replace our old Humax with either the HDR FoxT2 or the YouView one (T1000?)

I've heard bad reviews about the T1000 saying that you can't edit the channel list, and that it's not as good at recording as the FoxT2. We want the YouView one because we want access to things like the iPlayer and 4OD - but don't want to compromise on recording series links etc.

Can someone help me and tell me which one we should be buying? We've currently got a 9300 (I think) which has been perfect for us, but is showing its age.

TIA

No idea about the other devices you mention, but I had a Humax YouView box and you can not do manual recordings, if that's what you mean.

My box is sitting at Humax, it broke whilst I was on holiday. No response from Humax or YouView with regard to what is happening. Can not recommend until they fix the problem causing the box to fail to boot.

I think the T1000 is the YouView box? Confused

What do you mean by manual recordings? Do you mean it doesn't record at all? (I'm so confused) :)

It records using the EPG which works fine for most things. Problems can occur if the programme is very short or if the tv company changes the schedule at late notice.
Freeview recorders I have had in the past have had a before and after buffer (5 mins for example) so you don't miss the beginning/end of something if the timing is off by seconds/minutes. Also they have provided the ability to set recording start time, finish time, date, channel, manually rather than purely relying on the electronic programme guide.
I went away for xmas and as the guide only does a week in advance, I could not schedule recordings for whole time I was away.

Community forum on youview.com has more about that issue and others.

I think we've got crossed wires here :)

Our current one does series link, and manual recording, all fine. I understand how all that works. It does miss the end off a program sometimes when it overruns.

I had heard though that the YouView box has some issues - the interface is apparently rubbish, and that setting programs to record is done in a weird way?

Can someone tell me if it is possible to remove channels from the channel list please?

Oh - thanks for the link btw, I'll have a look.

Ah - I have found this about channel lists, which is helpful.

Thank you.

I did not have any problems with series link. Setting something to record was easy and if an HD version was available it would let me have the option of which to record SD/HD.

Great, thank you. That sounds alright.

I've ordered one now anyway, so we'll have to see!

Good luck. I was pleased with my box for the 5 months that it worked.

Alas getting it repaired seems to be an endless wait. YouView: Boot Fail Invalid Signature.
