Could somebody please help? DP was on some football site on the netbook and some kind of block has appeared. We have rebooted it but as soon as the computer is logged back on this block pops up. It says its from Interpol departament of cibercrime (that is exactly how it is spelt)

Thank you

It sounds like the website had been hacked.

Did he have PC securityy software on the PC?

If it has Windows operating system on the PC you might be able to boot it from the original Windows disk and then wipe the PC clean or even get some software from a firm like Norton to repair/clear it.

It is a scam. My dad sent £100 and never saw it again.

You'll need a good antivirus.

Dosey · 20/01/2013 21:04

Thank you we seemed to have unblocked it. Are any of the free security packages any good.

malwarebytes is good for these scams. I think it is free for some bits, but you pay for ongoing cover.

I use Avast Free AV and find it really good. It blocks infected pages and tells you why it has stopped your pc connecting.

I also have the free version of MBAM and Spybot Search and Destroy.

Download CCleaner from Piriform, it's the best free tool out there for cleaning all the shite that clogs your pc.
