Virgin Media fault and PS3 controllers

Is it a complete coincidence that we've lost broadband and TV connection and now the PS3 controllers have stopped working? We have a controller plugged into the USB but its not doing anything.
Please help. I'm going mad. As it is, Virgin can't send an engineer out until Tuesday evening.

Just bad luck. The PS3 controller stopping working is not related to your Virgin connection going down.

I think it might be a problem with the USB cable as both controllers packed up at the same time. Have bought a cheap controller with a wire attached and its working fine. Phew!
Now to get Virgin Media back up and running.....
