What type of handset do you have?

Waitingforastartofall · 18/01/2013 14:39

Its a htc sensation. ive just found a backup app on google store that should send them to the sd card so presumably i can them put that into the laptop and save :S

Yes, that should sort it, without doing the sucking egg thing, check that you can open the file it outputs before you wipe the phone :-)

Also, email a copy to yourself, that way if your laptop goes tonto you'll still have a copy.

its loaded all 9000 messages rather than just ones off my mum so i could be here all night deleting the rest! lol.

If it's an Android based phone, I can recommend SMS Backup+ which copies SMS to Gmail (it creates a Label in Gmail called SMS)
I only use it to backup around 100 messages (as I delete the messages from my phone after doing a backup) so not sure how well it copes with a very large number of messages... expect it will just take a long time. It does a backup of all SMS, don't think you can specify only message conversations between certain contacts/people.

Can you not forward them to our new phone, then delete the old phone ones.

Sorry to hear about your mum Sad

I second SMS Backup, great app and dead easy to use.

You can also use Go Backup

This will backup your text messages, contacts and call history. Just make sure you save it to your microSD and voila. Remove it. When you get your new phone, install Go Backup, insert the card and restore the backup file.

all backed up onto micro sd card to resave later and on laptop. will then be Abe to get them onto new phone when it arrives. with orange insurance you literally hand the casing of one phone and take the new one so no sending from one to other option

Just make sure you remember the microSD card then !!
