Odd problem with wireless reception

Any ideas as to what may be causing this problem would be great.

Mum has an 18 month old laptop which she uses wirelessly.

She has a BT home hub 3 which receives between 8 and 9 broadband speed and this has been checked by BT.

When I use my laptop at her house wirelessly I am getting this speed, the BT engineer was getting this sped on his laptop too.

When used non-wirelessly, mum's is getting that speed too.

So why can't she get over 1 broadband speed when she uses hers wirelessly?

Am going over to her place tomorrow and would like to try a few solutions.

TIA

Could be the wireless receiver in the laptop not being up to scratch. If you can get hold of a Wifi dongle you could see if that gets it back up to speed.

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. That sounds like a good suggestion, I have a spare one here so will take it over and have a go.

Thanks
