Parental controls for Xbox/Xbox Live?

Is there such a thing? Not keen on randoms "friend requesting" my 11 yr old DS. TIA.

Where do I start? Which menu do I access? Not really up to speed with Xbox.

You can also use it to limit how much time they can spend on the xbox too.
