Help me remember the name of this sci fi monster thing?

I don't know what it is - it's got tentacles, it has cult status, there is an MNer with the same name? It possibly begins with U but I can't remember.

(I will be REALLY impressed if you get this)

Can you give any more context? Where does it live? What does it do? who are its friends/enemies? Colour?

I don't really remember enough about it to give context unfortunately - I've seen it on thinkgeek a lot.

I think it's some sort of alien sea creature
