That's it really.

My new Sonos speaker won't continually play anything. It keeps stopping completely or goes off then comes back again a few seconds later.

I'm assuming it's something to do with internet connection?
It's always been fine for internet browsing.....

I just got one of these for christmas, it hasn't arrived yet. Please don't tell me they are flaky. I am replacing my Squeezebox system as that has been a pain in the arse and I don't want another expensive waste of space techno shite system in my house. I am going back to CDs at this rate.

FrazzleRock · 03/01/2013 17:08

Well it looks great and the sound is excellent but if it relies solely on consistent internet connection then it's a bit crap really

Sonos is fab, but only as good as a) your Internet connection b) your wifi and c) the provider you use to stream music.

Not had a problem with music stopping, IIRC, but very annoying when I am upstairs and just out of range of our wifi trying to control the music...OTOH being able to choose music from my iPhone is just brilliant.

Trying googling the problem?

BunnyLebowski · 03/01/2013 17:15

We've had ours since October and it is fecking amazing. Never had a single issue.

We have super good/fast internet though.

BunnyLebowski · 03/01/2013 17:17

Sorry meant to say I'll ask supergeek DP for any tips when he gets in!

FrazzleRock · 03/01/2013 17:25

My internet is normally very good and very fast (Virgin) Not had any issues with Virgin at all.

Thanks Bunny, if you could ask him that'd be marvellous Smile

Oh it's working if I control it from my computer but not from my mob now.

Ah-Ha!

I think I may have solved the problem.

I changed the wireless channel and, so far, it has been playing for 15 minutes straight.....

Hi there,

sorry to hear you have some issues with your Sonos.

Working for Sonos myself, feel free to submit a diagnostics and reply with your confirmation number so I can have a look at it.

Best,

Daniel

FrazzleRock, definitely the better the internet connection then the better it works. We have had it for 18 months and it's really fab, although the radio can still be a bit dodgy.

Sonosfanboy, can I hijack and ask.... We have three of the speaker thingies. We want to use one in the garden but the one time we have unplugged and moved the speaker, dh eneded up having to set up that speaker again. Is that normal?

SonosFanBoy · 04/01/2013 08:58

FrazzleRock, this is how to submit diagnostics: sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/142/

noviceoftheday, no that's not normal.
Having moved the speaker it should find the rest of the system after powering it up. Did he accidentally press any of the hardware button while powering up? That would cause the speaker to reset to factory settings.

PoppyWearer · 04/01/2013 09:46

Ooh, very excited to know we have a Sonos man in our midst!

BrandyAlexander · 07/01/2013 08:53

Thanks SonosFanBoy, we will try moving it as an experiment and see what happens!

wonkylegs · 07/01/2013 09:04

We have had squeezeboxes for years and all the problems we have had were with the WIFI (large brick terrace house - lots of interference from other WIFi in the area & thick brick walls) rather than the units themselves. Greatly improved when we started using Homeplugs as network connections. I would guess most music streaming products would have similar issues.

CointreauVersial · 10/01/2013 23:00

I heart my Sonos! We only have the little speaker and it's super-loud.

We use Spotify as the music source, and we did find it cut out if someone else in the house was trying to use Spotify at the same time.

No other problems, though.

SonosFanBoy · 11/01/2013 09:25

CointreauVersial: Spotify will only allow one stream at a time. If Spotify is being used on mobile app for example it will cut out on Sonos and vice versa. Unfortunately that's the expected behaviour.
