Help me choose a computer

I need a computer that will play the kids silly games - minecraft and all that. Plus their homework. Lots of memory. Fast. reliable.

And I get horribly confused by the tech gobbledegook so would appreciate some help.

With those sorts of requirements, pretty much every computer will manage. Just look for a computer with 4GB RAM or more. Reliable? They're all much of a muchness now. Some people will say Dell are reliable, others will say they are spawn of the devil. In reality there's not much in it. Those who do have a high failure rate will soon be pushed out of the market. It's too cutthroat.

Instead if you are after a desktop I would concentrate on finding a nice quiet one. If you prefer a laptop, go with one with 15.6" screen which personally I think is a good balance between being too big to carry and too small to see.

Your best bet is to go to PC World and have a look and play. See which feels right.

Research Online + Offline (eg try out laptop keyboard, see if unit is quiet) and then Buy Online if convenient (and see if there are any cashback deals from Quidco or TopCashBack).

Thanks folks.

I hate this. I'd much rather someone just showed up at my door and said here, use this. Grin

I could come along, sell you a 250 quid desktop for 500 and promise the earth, if you want :)

Sounds familiar. Someone's already done that to me Grin
