Pedometers and gps watches

I am after a decent pedometer, one that quite accurately traces steps and has a good battery life. I don't care too much about other features though!

I also want a GPS watch or small device (basically, without a screen for mapping as I want to use it in retrospect from the comfort of my sofa, not as I go!) , though I want one that has a long long battery life as I want to use it during my 5 days DofE gold expedition to track where I've been when I get home and the distance covered.

Can anybody advise me on good gps devices and pedometers?

I know stuff all about pedometers but a bit about handheld GPS systems. If all you want is a small unit without a map overlay I recommend the Garmin Etrex H. It's small, lightweight and battery life is approx 18 hours. If you mark waypoints at the start and end of each day it will keep those routes for you to download to your computer to study.

I use mine for geocaching, and it's accurate to about 3 metres.

Thank you! That looks good, I'm not sure it's exactly what I'm after as I'd like it to track where I'm going between the way points, but it's one I'll definitely consider, even if just for geocaching, hich I have yet to try! Wink
