Mouse in laptop stopped responding - how to fix?

Hi there

Yesterday the mouse in my laptop stopped moving so my computer is not useable. Sometimes it has the little revolving circle in it but otherwise it's just an arrow immobile in middle of screen.

Suspecting the hand of my 4 year old I did a system restore to a week ago but it still won't budge. The tab keys are of limited use.

Any wise people know of a solution ? I am not very technical as you can probably tell but am happy to try anything befor I spend 50 quid at the computer shop.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean a built in one or an actual mouse? If it's a wireless one it might need a new battery.

Just check first that there is not a little button which can be pressed to freeze the mouse. Was caught out like this oncep, pressed the little button and hey presto all was well.

done this on my laptop - was one of the F buttons 3 times - pressing again sorted it out

Thanks so much everyone. Turns out that the lock had been put on the keyboard, although the lock button wasn't showing as on. Hm. Never mind. All sorted now.

Thanks for your prompt and helpful replies.
