Nokia Lumia 920 ringer volume

I have just gotten a Lumia 920 and it is generally OK but still trying to get used to a Windows phone so can't say much more.

The issue I am having is how to control the ringer volume without turning up the volume on everything else on the phone. Is this possible and I'm just being dense?

It seems a bit silly to not have separate volume controls but I can't figure it out

Mine is an Android phone. When I am watching a video and I adjust the volume using the switches on the side, the phone adjusts the media volume as opposed to the ring tone volume. See if that works.
