Anyone techy out there that knows about ripping and converting files?

I bought some Aiseesoftware last year to rip DVDs into MP4 format to load onto an iPad
We're getting DS an Innotab for Christmas - I've just found out it takes AVI files
Is there good free commitment free software that allows you to rip DVD's to AVI and convert MP4 files to AVI files
Thanks in advance

I use software called DVD Catalyst but it cost about £10.

Do you know for a fact that your gadget only plays AVI files? It's just that most (all?) non Apple tablets play both AVI and MP4 files.

Hmmm - a friend said Innotab is AVI only but now on googling looks like MP$ might be supported. thanks !

Handbrake is quite great for ripping DVDs. However, its weak point is that it cannot rip DVD with copy protection. is your DVDs are home-made, it would be the best option.

or try some other tool such DVD Ripper to convert files from DVD to mp4:
www.ilikemall.com/convert/rip-dvd-to-mp4-mac.html

and mp4 to avi here: www.ilikemall.com/how-to/convert-avi-to-mp4-mac.html

I am using it, but it is shareware that isn't for everyone.
