I've just got a Samsung Galaxy S mp3 player and I can't get it to connect to the internet.

I got it yesterday and it just wouldn't connect, then it did, then it wouldn't, then it did and now it won't.

We have 2 laptops and 2 phones in the house that are all using the wifi ok, so I don't think it's a problem with the internet/router.

I've looked online and it seems a solution could be setting a static IP address, but I don't know how to do this. There is a option to do that, but then you need to enter the IP address and I don't know what that is?!

A factory reset was also suggested, but do I need to back up the games and stuff it came with? If so, how do I do that?

It's driving me mad!

TIA

In terms of a factory reset, this would return the device to the same state you took it out of the box in. Anything which came pre installed would be there. If you've downloaded anything from the Play store you can easily re-download these again through the MyApps page in the store.

I'd start by trying the reset method as you shouldn't have to mess around with advanced settings just to connect to the Internet.
