Dh and I agreed 50 on each other this Christmas, but I want to spoil him with an I pad
After much thinking about it looking at sensible non apple alternatives decided to get him what I know he'd actually just love so...
Retina display- what size ie 16/32/64- he will use it for Internet movies and face time I think
Will they suddenly drop in price
I know a non apple kindle fire is the sensible choice but he's a great dh and I feel like just for once I want to splash out and get it right
If I give him a token gesture of an apple for him to choose I feel like it looses the point and then he has the hell of post Christmas stores or worse waiting in for yodel...
Can someone who knows about this stuff tell me what to do??! Grin

16GB Ipad 4 (the one with the new connection port) will be fine for him.

They are incredibly unlikely to drop in price. It's just not the way Apple do business. Not until the next new Ipad comes out and given it's only just been announced, it will be at least 6-8 months until the next is announced.

You may find the odd £20 knocked off in the Jan sales if you are unlucky but not a significant amount anyway.

They won't drop in price, they just don't.

I've got an iPad 2 and an iPad 4, both are 32gb. I think the 16gb are too small memory size. Dd has filled it with 8gb of music and a load of apps. If you're going to put movies on it you need 32gb.

I've never bothered with a 3G one, just got wifi only.

It's a shame they don't sell the ipad2 in a 32gb anymore because in my opinion they're the best model. The retina display I reckon is emperors new clothes, I can't tell the difference at all. Battery is slightly better on the pad2 and its lighter.

If you do want to save some money Apple sell reconditioned ones on their website. You're unlikely to get the iPad retina display for a little while though. They're normally 10% off RRP and have a 12 month warranty.

Just out of interest, why do you feel that the Apple product is 'the one'? There are several tablets on the market right now which out perform the iPad in pretty much every respect for much less money. I would seriously consider those alternatives before jumping in.

Hi thanks all
Pedro- usually I would have got the Samsung or kindle fire but I know dh is hankering after an iPad and is always so sensible an carful etc for once I want him to have what he want just because so even though I don't think it's necessarily te beat fit in this occasion am going with it...
still might buy kindle fire and iPad and let him make the decision haha
