7 year old wants a Kurio but have heard not so great reviews. Thinkinig about getting a cheap tablet instead. Maybe nexus 7. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

How 'cheap' is your 'cheap' - just that for many it would mean under 100 quid and I'd expect the Nexus to be a bit (or a lot) over that (not been looking recently for a new tablet for myself, but would expect that one to be worth considering).

Kindle Fire on Amazon for £99 until Monday!

The Samsung Galaxy is £158 for the white one in Currys, if you buy a case with it you get £50 cashback.

I'm going for that one tomorrow, as I had a go on the Kurio and it seemed really rubbish tbh.

I'm buying a Nexus for my 5 yo.

Don't know about the Kurio, but ruled out the Fire because of concerns over apps - amazon are more about getting you to buy books and movies (hence cheapness of Fire - you will be captive audience) rather than producing loads of cheap/free random kids apps.

Galaxy tab looks good. I think it comes with Icecream Sandwich (4.0) while the Nexus is Jellybean (4.2). I have no idea about upgradeability.
