The Kindle Fire...if I get one, can I transfer the stuff on my v basic kindle to that? I would then give my one to DD(9), so need to be sure all adult content gone...Smile

All Kindles need to be registered to your Amazon account. Whatever is on your account will be available to each device linked to it. You can't transfer books to another account of they were bought direct from Amazon. Obviously any free books can easily be added to a new account or if you have the files elsewhere that you sent to your Kindle you could send these to a new account.

Not having owned a Kindle or to my knowledge having any relatives with one, but if items have been purchased, would it mean DD could re-load anything that had previously been purchased (and probably even get a list of what 'scrablet' had bought, so could re-download them to have a read ?)... I'm assuming it is the case, which means that even having deleted items she could re-download them if she was ever able to get onto the Amazon service...

Just that with my Android phones etc, anything I've purchased can be downloaded again onto any other of my devices, so thinking Amazon treats items in a similar way...

What you'd need to do is delete everything from the old Kindle, then deregister it from your account on the Amazon website. Everything you've bought, you'll be able to redownload to your new Kindle Fire, which you register to this same account.

Then open a new Amazon account, and register the old Kindle to it. Use that account to buy your DD books. If don't do this and leave both Kindles registered to the same account, your DD will have access to everything on it including the adult material; it's tied to the account not to the device.

Do also remember that one-click buy will have to be on, so that DD knows she's not to buy stuff without your knowledge, or it could get expensive!

As for transferring books bought on another account...well, you're not supposed to. But there are ways.

Sounds a bit complicated. Will think of another santa gift I think. (PS, by adult content I mean Jilly Cooper and Jackie Collins Blush)
