iPhone update to ios6?

My iphone is at the ios5 thingy (can you tell I'm not that geeky?!) Is it worth it to download the suggested new update? Some friends say not to bother as its mucked things up but dh says he hasn't really noticed any difference...

A few new apps updated automatically. Not much difference otherwise.

Thanks star - apparently it takes ages too? Someone said to me that it mucks the maps app up, which I use a lot..

The new maps app is crap (poetry) but you can put google maps back on if you don't like it

You'll lose the current version of google maps, which will be replaced by apple maps, which isn't nearly as good.

My dh updated his on the day it came out and he regrets it now. You can get google maps and YouTube back now I think. Google have added maps to their existing app. He says it has reduced his battery life.

He is selling his old iPhone on eBay at the moment and is using the fact it's not updated as a selling point!

Update is fine. Apple maps are fine for me and have used it as a sat nav more since I updated than I did in 5 years of iPhone ownership. YouTube is better if you download their app as opposed to using the bundled one. Depends how you use your phone I guess but you should always update.

Don't do it. If you are happy with how it's running the. It's not worth the risk. I hardly update anything after the MN app fiasco about a year ago when the update didn't work. Sad times...

I updated mine then it lost all my contacts and installed my son's instead, because it was his old phone. I ended up having to completely reset the phone, install a new itunes account and manually add all my contacts (after scrabbling round various family phones and old texts trying to find them again)

I do, however, like the fact that message notifications are easier to see when the phone is on standby.

Yeah the map app is crap compared with Google map but I can live with it. Like the new podcast app.
