We have a regular iPad and a nexus - nexus wins hands down. Soooo much better.

grrr one- now that review makes me think the ipad mini will be better for ds2. He can use the kindle app on it still, but have the ability to use the ipad mini for everythign else and with payg sim use out and about.

I really don;t want to prefer the ipad, i have a bit of thing against apple at the moment, where i think the marketing is very clever and aimed at the teenagers and making them want to buy there products becasue they are cool. I also find thir bullying tactics against other brands a bit distasteful. My samsung galaxy s3 is so much better than my iphone 5(work phone) but the iphone 5 is much prettier to look at. My other branded tablet more than does the job and is fast, good display etc but the ipad is so much prettier!

Maybe i should just buy him a £69 kindle, is just that ds1 has an ipad and a blackberry playbook (ipad was a present from his dad, the playbook he brought himself) and ds2 doesnt have any and i thought thi would be an exciting present for him as he would never think that i would buy him a bike and a tablet for christmas.

ah ha- just googled and the nexus 7 will be coming with 3g soon. does anyone know if this will be before xmas? its £239 so as this was the only thing drawing me to the ipad mini (other than prettiness Blush) this could be the winning factor.

Ipad mini sin't worth the money to be honest it has less features than The Ipad 2 This video gives some good reasons why it isn't worth it. Galaxy isn't bad however the smaller version has some rather annoying glitches which don't appear all that often but when they do gah! The Nexus I'm afraid I haven't had much experience with so can't comment. The Kindle Fire is nice it works well in its primary role which is as a reader but it also functions quite well as an online device it probably helps that Amazon store gives away apps from time to time. The Kindle is built around a similar system to the Google Android platform. I hope this helps.

Go For Ipad Mini!

It's a bit late to comment, jacks123, if this was a plan before (well before) Christmas, as a gift...
