how do i uninstall apps on the iPad? (quick question as in a rush!)

am putting a few apps on the iPad 2 I got my husband for Christmas and, having seen better options not wanting to clog it up, want to get rid of a couple. How do I remove them?!
(I am in a rush as he's back from the pub in a bit!)

Hold your finger on the icon for that app until it wobbles. Then touch the x that will appear in the corner of the icon.
When you're done, press the home button
