Panic - does the i-pod touch and i-pad work with a wireless router?

Just ordered a wireless router, main reason and we wanted the above and just read the bad i-pad reviews on Amazon saying they don't connect to wi-fi via wireless routers.

Please help!

How else can I get wireless if we currently get broadband down the phoneline.

DH has an i-pad and it connects just fine as does DD's tablet. We have sky wireless

The only we have is not being able to print wirelessly from the iPad, we need to get a new compatable printer to be able to do that.

You can fudge AirPrint to your own printer, but it requires real geekery and I haven't a clue how DH did it.

The good news is all iPads can connect to the internet via a wifi signal. The job of your wireless router is to turn wired internet from your phone line into wireless internet by generating a wifi signal in your house.
So wireless router + iPad = internet access on iPad. You're all ok.

How do I tell if my PC is able to pick up the wireless connection?

I have the router, modem, phoneline next to the PC which is all we have in the house, currently wired.

The idea is to get wireless so we can use the PC as it is but also use things like i-pad, i-pod touch, kindle, wii, dsi.

Is this fairly simple of will it be difficult to set up?

It's very easy to set up :) You will need to put in a password which will be on the router itself but that's about it.

If your PC is stationary, I'd suggest it won't matter whether it is wireless or not. If it lives on a desk, and currently connected to the internet via your modem / router, you can just leave it as is. Your wireless router will plug into your modem and start pumping out wifi signal to power your mobile devices, and your PC will continue to get its internet connection via its current wired configuration.

Naturally if your PC is a laptop that you plan to use in different places in the house, you will need to ensure it has wifi access - but then you're hard pressed to find any laptop that isn't capable of using wifi.

Final top tip about your new wireless router will be to take your time setting it up. Grab a coffee, have a read of the instruction manual (they're dull - but most usually have a good Ikea style diagram showing step by step how to set it up) and follow their installation instructions. Every wireless router is a little different, so its good to follow their directions.
