Am off to the UK from Oz on holibobs next Thurs, I need to turn my phones international roaming off don't i?

Anyone know how to do it so I don't incur huge download charges etc? Or is it possible to get a uk sim card so I can use my phone over there? I dunno how all this mysterious stuff works.

Settings.

Network.

Turn off the three options there: enable 3G, cellular data and data roaming.

You'll still be able to make and receive calls and texts and log in to wifi.

I'd do it just before I get on the plane. If you don't, it'll start roaming when you land.

Shall I just call my phone plan supplier? Grin

Yes I would phone your supplier! Every network is different. I stick with texts when away though Smile

Hello,
If you let me know which network are you contracted to, I might be able to steer you to an affordable option to call and text whilst your in Aus.

Hi TariffHound, thanks for the offer of help, I actually live in Aus and am heading to the UK for holidays. I'm currently with Optus but if you can suggest a better deal I'd be STOKED!

Not Vodaphone tho as we get no reception at our house Grin.

Do you know if I can get a cheap pay as you go sim card for the UK?
