Uploading videos from camcorder to computer

I have an HP mini laptop and connected my camcorder to it via USB lead. The videos download quickly except when I go to play them there is no picture just sound! Looking online it mentions codecs but also says click on options in windows media player to see what codecs are installed and I don't have those options in my media player!

download and install Divx player it works with more video formats than windows media player so will most likely solve your issue.

Otherwise you need to know the filetype that you are downloading and what codec wmp requires to play it and install that in the install folder for windows media player somewhere on your c:\drive.

If DivX doesn't cope, VLC is a free player which also handles lots of formats.
