Tartan Telly

Hi there I have a 37" LG TV (not sure of model but could find out if necessary), 5 years old so out of warranty. It has an LCD screen and, after about 10-15 minutes of being switched on with a perfectly good, sharp display, it goes all 'tartan'. By Tartan, I mean horizontal and vertical lines with colour.

I have checked connections and swapped them around etc. Just wondered and hoped if anyone has experienced this and know of a way to fix it? I don't have the money to buy a new TV Sad

I have heard people talk about 'built in obsolescence'. Is this what I am experiencing? Or my other fear is that my TV is in the pilot group for Independent Scottish Telly should Alex Salmond get his way Hmm

Perhaps this is the wrong forum for this type of advice :)

I actually dont have a clue about tellys but the tartan effect you mentioned happened to us on a laptop just after dd had dropped a full glass of lemonade all over the keyboard, could it be the tv is getting damp.Or according to this could be an internal problem.
