iPod touch or kindle fire?

So with the kindle fire now (finally!) available in the UK do I buy that or the touch for dd's 10th birthday?
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Kindle fire is being rolled out cheaply, and the reputation of Amazon kindles for quality is not great.

The iPods seem to be more robust and reliable and have a mass of well-developed apps instantly available.

Thanks for that. I didn't know about the kindles poor sturdiness and quality!
