Exporting music

I currently have an old G5 mac running OS 4.1.11. I can't upgrade as I work in publishing and have clients who work on even older software etc! Because the G5 is before the Intel processor, I can't upgrade iTunes beyond version 9 or 10.

I have recently bought an iPad 3 and an iPod Touch.

Question: Is it possible to export my vast collection of music from the G5 to both the iPad or iPod? If so, how?

Thanks!

I don't know, just bumping the post, hopefully someone will see it and be able to help.

It can be done!

Okay, not going to claim to be very knowledgeable Blush but I have just got an ipad and have itunes on my laptop.

I set up itunes on the ipad with the same account details as my laptop so the two share the same account. On settings for both I turned on home sharing (under advanced settings) I also set up icloud (again this is in the settings) which is like a memory bank for all your downloads so if you deleted one by accident you could retrieve it from icloud. My music from laptop is now on ipad (this could be due to magic though as opposed to anything i've done Grin )

Hopefully this makes sense or better yet someone with more knowledge will be along.

unfortunately i don't have a mac or and ipad so i apologise if this advice turns out to be crap!
But...what about installing a different music app on your mac (like one suggested here gigaom.com/apple/5-music-focused-itunes-alternatives-for-mac/) and then connecting your ipad/touch and exporting the music through the app?
Or, can you not connect the ipad and copy over the music files/folders manually?

This may also help

Thanks, FancyPuffin! All looked simple until I tried it. It won't work because the iTunes on the Mac is version 8 (can't install the latest version as the operating system software is too old). The devices are just refusing to talk to one another and it won't work remotely.

Anyone else help me out please?
