I tried to delete a video from Samsung galaxy older model and have lost everything - all of five month old dc3 stuff - I am an idiot only some of it was backed up elsewhere I can hardly see through the tears. Does anyone know if it's possible to retrieve it? Please help I am so sad.

I'm not at all familiar with smartphones but I do know that if you've accidentally deleted things from an SD card it is usually possible to recover them provided you DO NOT take more photos, etc. until after recovery. Deleting usually works by just marking the space occupied by the photos as available to store new images. As long as you don't overwrite the newly freed up space you may have a chance.

Thank you for your advice Zombie I will make sure I take no more photos/videos and ask around/do some research in RL. Much appreciated.

Is the phone turned of and/or the SD card removed? Anything that writes to the SD card will increase the chance that you may not be able to recover everything.

If you are reasonably techie you can take the SD card out, stuff it in a card reader and scan it with a file recovery utility. Recuva from piriform is often recommended, but I've had better results with PhotoRec from the TestDisk suite on Linux.
