How different will it be from the 4s? I can't see it being much better, but I might be wrong.

Groovee · 05/09/2012 09:48

I'm interested.... But reckon I can't afford
It

readyforno2 · 05/09/2012 09:51

My upgrades not due till January. Definitely want it though. Can't wait!

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 05/09/2012 10:18

Rumours are that it will have a 4" screen. Which is bigger than the 4 and 4S but smaller than the Samsung S3. It will be slimmer but possibly a bit longer, and the new processor is meant to make it exceptionally fast. Oh, and a new OS and smaller charging port too.

I will be watching this new iphone with interest. Up to 6 months ago and I was an avid Apple i-everything fan.

But as time has gone on I see Apple innovating less and simply trying to crush competition in the courts.

Sorry but HTC & Samsung have hard larger screen phones out for a long time. Siri is really just a gimmick and the once GORGEOUS looking iphone is looking all too common now.

If rumours are to be believed then the screen will be slightly taller. Not a big deal and still way behind the likes of the S3 and the Galaxy Note. Changing the charging port will mean everyone with ipod accessories will either have to fiddle with an adapter or go without. And I dare say Siri will still be crap.

Apple seriously need to pull a rabbit out of the hat here. Unfortunately I suspect they won't.

SunWukong · 07/09/2012 11:33

They never innovated in the first place they are just experts at advertising old things as new and making everything oh so shiney.

They have never innovated or invented anything in there entire history

NetworkGuy · 07/09/2012 11:54

While I am no fan of the current day corporation, and it's unending series of legal disputes to squash current day competition, it was one of the first users of the Motorola 68000, before Atari and Commodore Amiga or Sinclair's QL.

You may consider they just 'do things shiney' but no-one else was offering something as neat as the *> original Macintosh

SunWukong · 07/09/2012 17:51

Yeah but that's the point isn't it style over substance, you are paying more for something just because it looks nicer, tho thats all a matter of opinion.

At least in the old days you could justify buying a mac over pc because RISC was better for something's like them CAD, now days they are Intel based like everything else, the only reasons people have to pay so much for them is the design of the case and the fact it doesn't come loaded with windows but that's .sn easy thing to fix.

And now days they really are as bad as Microsoft locking you into all that rubbish, between them they make a mockery of the whole idea of industry standards, such a shame the days of everything working on all machines is getting more and more rare

SunWukong · 07/09/2012 17:53

Like cad that other word shouldn't be in there really must read the instructions to find out how to turn off this predictive text thing

NetworkGuy · 07/09/2012 18:33

Back then, it was definitely not just style over substance - AppleTalk was definitely a credible networking system, and Apple developed software to integrate with DEC VAX etc. It was more expensive (though as I worked in Education they gave significant discounts) and more recently, I agree, it has become nastier than Microsoft in its stranglehold on what you can do with your purchase (and greedy with the cut they take from anything bought at the Apple Store) but my initial defence was simply to counter the negative post at 11:33.

I have no wish to defend them for recent (10++ years?) sins, but to challenge the statement that dismissed them entirely.

swooosh · 07/09/2012 18:43

I'll be getting it, I time my 24 month contracts ever so well to tie in with the "big" upgrades.

Lolwhut · 08/09/2012 12:19

Cue spike in insurance claims for lost and damaged to IPhone 4/4S and 3's.

I know it's an old article but quite interesting

I am getting a new iPhone 5 and am very very excited. My 20 year old DS1 is getting my old iPhone which he is also extremely excited about. His old phone does not have a camera let alone Internet access.

It's a win win situation Grin.

Did someone just criticise Siri Sad ShockSad ShockSad Shock I love Siri and use it all the time. Definitly not a gimmick for me. Admittadly not one of life's essentials but great if you have it.
