stupid question from someone who has never had a phone contract

I have always thus far done PAYG.

however I now for some unknown reason NEED an Iphone.

So with the above not part of the discussion, please talk me through why I would sign up to an 18/24 month contract rather than pay outright for my phone and sign up to GiffGaff

I would really like to understand the whole contract thing..

I got the cheapest I phone tariff (contract) I could find. Paid t mobile £15 I think to unlock my phone, then I put a Giff gaff sim in.

So I pay £10 a month to gg
£15 a month for contract I phone

Tariffs are just ridiculous IMO. Who needs 5000 minutes and 3000 texts a month?

Payg is the way forward. One reason I got a contract is I need to build up my credit history and a contract will help me do that.

Don't get an iPhone. Get a galaxy s3. Loads better.

Oh dear, sounds like another one has got sucked into Apple marketing. DON'T DO IT! Despite what Apple will tell you, iPhones are not the best phones, they are hugely over priced and will cause you nothing but stress. HTC One X or Galaxy S3 are the best around right now.

ooh don't Pedro... have spent the weekend in shops with a samsung in hand I thought it was totally what I wanted.. but no... an Iphone is right.
