I like the look of the Otterbox Defender, but it is quite dear and there seems to be a bit of a problem with the silicone tearing when removing the phone again.

I am not too bothered about looks, loathe bling and, most importantly, am looking for something indestructible.

Any experience/recommendation you'd care to share?

TIA.

I've got a gear 4 complete see through case it's survived being dropped a few times on tiled floors etc got it in O2 about £15 I think it makes it chunkier but definately does the job

Oh and it's survived my 5 yr old dropping it on the patio. Ok case is a bit scuffed but phone is mint condition think if it wasn't in the case I would have needed a new screen hth

Thanks, guys, I will look those up.

Anybody own an Otterbox? Defender or otherwise?

I splurged on an otterbox defender for DH and it's been brilliant. He hasn't had a need to take it out of the case and the silicone sits quite firm. He is in an engineering workshop so gets a fair amount of abuse.

The actual case is hard sturdy plastic, the silicone is a sleeve on top to provide bounce and scratch proofyness. It also comes with a built in screen protector which is sturdy too.

It does make it quite blocky and heavy. Sound quality hasn't been affected and he takes great pictures with the case on.

DH went with the royal blue silicone skin so he can easily find it on the desk or among his pile of junk by the sofa.

I think it was £20 on amazon, bought it earlier this year and it was the cheapest place.

Thanks, kelle.

Amazon and Ebay seem to have a number of them.
Good to know your DH likes it Smile.

I have an otterbox impact. It's very thick rubber and encases the hone pretty thoroughly. I always get one whenever I change my phone.
