Just got one for dd and got her up and running and then it went wrong when I tried to get her synced. I managed to get all of my stuff through itunes synced to her ipod.

So I've gone and restored settings but have a few questions:

  1. How do I get her on itunes using my computer without sycning my stuff to her again?
  1. She's under 13, so can she even be registered for itunes?
  1. How do I restrict what she's able to download since I don't want to be bankrupt by next week?

My 16 year old has an itunes account that has no debit or credit card linked to it. She has to put vouchers on it.

thought you had to provide card details

  1. Change your iTunes so it does not automatically sync, then you will be able to manage the device manually and just copy over what she wants.
or
  1. set up a separate user account on your computer, so she logs in as herself (make it a user account, not administrator), install iTunes again, and she will only have whatever she rips or downloads.
  1. No idea, but if you do it for her with a spare email address, who's to know?
  1. You might need to register a card initially, but you can definitely go back in after and delete it, I have done this. You certainly used to be able to set an iTunes account up using just a voucher, but this may have changed.

You do not need to register a debit or credit card, just buy a gift card and use that during registering an itunes account.Ds did this recently with his new iphone after hearing some horror stories about fraud within itunes.
