This is probably very simple if you know what to do!

2DCs and I have the old style iPod nanos. DH is getting an iPod nano for his birthday shhh

Everyone accesses music/audiobooks etc through my iTunes account on my latop, but when each one is plugged in, it's recognised as 'Time's iPod' or DC1s iPod etc'

The downside of this is that mine is full of Cressida Cowell audiobooks and yoof stuff, and theirs is so embarrasingly full of Aled Jones and The Archers podcasts that they daren't take them out in public.

Everything gets synched every time.

Apart from labouriously ticking and unticking boxes, how do we set up a more independant system for ourselves?

from your friendly incompetent,

time x

I sync my iPad and iPhone to the same computer and I only had to set up what I want to sync to each one once - I have all my music on the iPhone and just a selection of photos and all my photos on the iPad and just a few playlists - I also don't have all the apps on my iPhone as it's only 16Gb.

One thing you might want to check - when you are connected to iTunes and click on the name of the device, on the Apps tab there's a tickbox to 'sync all new apps automatically' I that is ticked, then anything bought on one device will be synched to the other(s)
