Sims 3 Pets, please help

My daughter wants to get Sims 3 Pets with her birthday money. We have a PC and a Nintendo Wii that she can play on. I've looked at Amazon and they don't seem to do a Sims 3 Pets for Wii. They do sell one for PC but is says "expansion pack". Is this the same as like an upgrade? Would we need to have an earlier version of Sims Pets? We don't have any earlier versions of Sims Pets. Please help!

It is like an upgrade. You need to have the original Sims 3 game and then Sims 3 expands that games by adding new stuff to what existed originally on the The Sims 3 game.

There isn't any earlier version of Sims 3 Pets you need, you just need The Sims 3 to make it work.
