Microsoft points voucher for Xbox360

Hopefully this query will make sense to someone .

If I were to buy one of these vouchers for DS1, does he need to initially sign up to and pay for Xbox Live, then download the points or does this voucher enable him to sign up to Xbox live and download the points.

You have to register with live. Can be done through the Xbox easily, just need an email address. You don't have to pay to join, just select silver membership not gold! Then you can enter the code from the points card and purchase games through the Xbox.

Just remember Silvers can't do everything like playing online multiplayer games so don't go buying any

So if he wanted to play Minecraft, we would have to sign him up for gold membership so he could download the points, buy the game and play it with his friends.

Well he can buy the points and game on silver he just can't play it with his friends (online), besides fuck Minecraft.
