Tablets and lego mind storms

DS2 is desperate to buy himself a tablet, he's been nagging for ages so I said he could buy one with his own money. He has been saving for ages and will have about £150 to spend. Is there anything good in that price range or would he be better to wait and save a bit more?

I was thinking of getting him Lego mindstorms for his birthday and I was wondering if anyone knows if we will be able to make it work on a tablet.

Any tips?

Not quite what you asked, but..

Depending on his age, he may be interested in creating apps on an android tablet using app inventor for android. I set this up for my DS on an android phone. With a lot of help initially, he has followed a couple of tutorials and adapted them. The apps were very basic, but he enjoyed creating them. He is 10.

App inventor has components for Lego Mindstorms, but I have no experience of using them. Details here.

If he can save a little bit longer, I would recommend he get a Nexus 7. It's probably the best tablet in the £150-£200 price bracket on the market.

Thank you for the replies.

Naoko - I heard that google were releasing a tablet, sounds good. Bless the lad he hasn't really asked for anything for his birthday so may give his savings a boost.

Emblon - He would love to do some app creation. He has been using scratch on the Raspberry Pi but I'm rubbish at all this stuff so can't really take it much further.
