Converting DVDs to watch on an ipad?

theyoungvisiter · 09/07/2012 21:23

The kids have loads of favourite DVDs that aren't available in itunes (plus I feel irritated that we've shelled out once already for the DVD).

Is there an easy way of sending them to the ipad for watching on train journeys etc?

Yes! Look for an app called GPlayer. :)

Or, if you want to stream them from PC/Mac when you're at home (and rather than taking up iPad space) look for Air Media Center.
HTH.

Thank you Stann!! I want to actually put them on the ipad for preference - it's mainly for amusing the kids on long journeys.

How does gplayer work then - I buy it as an app on the ipad and it converts the files for me?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do I actually get the video files onto the ipad? Confused

Do I have to rip the DVD on my pc and then dropbox the file, or can I transfer it over the USB cable?

Been a while since I used it, but here's the instructions.

To convert the dvd to AVI, if you google 'rip dvd to avi' there's loads of different free profs that do it, you may even already have such a thing on your pc.

HTH, sorry for vagueness, my phone is about to die! Message me if you get stuck!
