Why has my Samsung Galaxy 2 started playing random little tunes?

Its not notifying a message or a voicemail.

Du, du, du, du, du, du, du, doh.

Several times a day for no reason I can see. I'm going to have to put it on silent 24/7 if I can't work out how to stop it.

Is it an alert from an app?

I dunno, there's nothing on thee screen to tell me why its playing a tune.

Right, have worked out its every time I get an email.

But my notifications are on silent. It doesn't even beep when I get a text, just vibrates. So why does it play the blardy tune for an email.
