Saw suggestion in chat for traveling teddy bear which you send off hitchhiking around the world sending back photos + postcards from people who give him a lift. Thought the dc would love this, was wondering if anyone knows of a webhost which would be a good way of keeping track of him. Something easy to set up, ideally cheap/free. Needs to be easy to upload photos hopefully from people around the world - although if too tricky could get them to e-mail and we could put the photos on. An appropriate platform for my dc to be on too. Obviously I will be checking it with them probably more obessively than they will but not sure I want them on facebook yet (5 + 7 yrs). Never designed a website or even a blog, but have computer savvy nephew who might be able to helpp me.

My OH has done something similar with a soft toy for our kids. It has been to America, Canada, Australia, Germany and a few more places I can't remember. It is all done via Facebook he has his own profile page. The people who receive him post photos of what they have done with him (he has been to some great places I am very jealous) onto his wall. Then they post him onto the next person. They also send postcards/small gifts back to the kids (they are very generous and thoughtful) we have made some good friends and even had some traveling soft toys to stay with us.

Oh just noticed the Facebook bit in your post. Our kids are young so couldn't log on without us anyway but I think it will be fine if you don't give them the password then they can't access it without you anyway. I would just make sure when you make friends on facebook you let them know that children will be accessing the page so to keep things suitable! We started with a few friends we knew in different countrues anyway and word soon got around their friends etc.
