Help! Fat cat has done something weird to my computer!

I just pushed fatcat off my keyboard where he was keeping warm. Now everytime I click on a link, it opens a new tab. If I try to type in the Google search box, each letter opens a new tab, making searches impossible. What has the beast done and how can I fix it, please? TIA.

Thanks for replying - after much swearing and fiddling, I have now resolved it.

Glad you have sorted it.I consider myself quite techy and have just been dragged up to date by Firefox automatically updating my browser,it has taken me 3 days to customise it to my preference.
