Does it really matter which processor a laptop has? Feel I must have an intel core but not sure why and does it matter? It's just for Internet and a bit of office....

I have been told to steerclear of AMD processors, aparently they run slower and cost more when they go wrong.

There is nothing wrong with AMD processors,in fact as a gaming family we dont have anything else.

I have a four year old laptop ( geriatric in the IT world ) with a AMD processor, I use it for Internet and MS Office and it works just fine.

PS, I'd go for more memory that helps a lot

The brand (AMD or Intel) is almost irrelevant for a machine like that. The speed and number of cores is what you want to look at - higher clockspeed and more cores = faster PC, but there is a point at which more becomes pointless unless you're running very powerhungry software, especially for a laptop you just want for internet and office work.
