Downloading photo's from HTC phone - why do I get duplicates?

I'm trying to download photo's from my HTC phone and when they go onto the computer there seem to be duplicates, but they look a smaller version of the first photo's. Can anyone advise what I might be doing wrong please? TIA.

No idea sounds like you got some thumbnail option or something turned on somewhere.
