Can I put dvd's that we have onto my iPad 3?

I'd like to put some of the boys films onto my new iPad for when we go away, on flights etc.

Can anybody tell me how I can do this please?

You need to rip the DVDs to your computer first, using something like Handbrake, which will also convert them to a compatible format for playing on the ipad.
