Hi

At work I am due a bonus and was thinking about treating myself to a new phone, everyone I have spoken to suggest an Iphone 4s.

I have always had nokias, even from 3210 time and get on really well with them, although they are getting really rubbish now with battery life, and the phones are really unreliable. I have tried a razr in the past and hated it but that was 6+ years ago.

So, I want to get an iphone but am confused as to what they do, what I would need with them etc

I don't often phone anyone (got 100 mins at mo and never use them) I text all the time and with the iphone I would be hoping to mumsnet use it for the internet about two hours a day, how many gb do I need?

I know nothing do I? Please help.

That is a good deal if you are not a heavy user. Personally I despise 2 year contracts and I refuse to sign up to a commitment which lasts longer than many of my girlfriends have! Wink

I just keep going round in circles looking at all the offers!! I was going to get the 3 but for the sake of 6 or 7 pounds more a month to get the new 4s so that's a good deala then?

sparkle101 · 26/04/2012 18:54

I got it!!!!! I laid out the cost upfront £500 - complete shock! Looked at monthly deals with free phone and would end up paying more than upfront cost and a £15 contract (300 mins, unlimited texts and 500 internet), bloke in orange shop horrible and slimey and woman in carphone warehouse was excellent! Just waiting for my present phone to be switched off so I can go onto the iphone and start playing!

Thanks for all your help ladies!

The deal I suggested
£31 x 24 months = £744, plus £29 upfront for handset = £773

versus your deal
£15 x 24 months = £360, plus £500 upfront for handset = £860

Confused You are paying £500 upfront and over a period of 24 months you are paying more??

carrielou2007 · 27/04/2012 13:54

I'm going into carphone warehouse after school pick up to get that deal

PooshTun · 27/04/2012 14:37

If you go to their website carphonewarehouse.co.uk you will see the deal that I mentioned. BUT if you were to select the phone and then select the tariff then you won't. Instead you will see the more expensive deals. Basically, if you don't know about the offer and you walk into the shop then they won't tell you about it. Not very nice of them eh?

I suggest that you go to the website and print off the details of the offer and take that to the shop. Below is the link.

carrielou2007 · 27/04/2012 14:42

OOh thank you, that is the deal I think will suit me. I haven't got a printer so if they don't give me that deal in the shop (I'll tell them what I want and it says in stock in my local branch) then I'll just come home and order it. I bet as soon as I walk to the door they will 'suddenly have found that deal for me' Grin Thank you!!

re colour, read somewhere to always get black as take slightly better pictures than white - no idea if this is true.

TrinityRhino · 27/04/2012 15:47

I have a white one and pictures are fantastic Grin

maggiethecat · 27/04/2012 16:17

Sparkles' deal could have been cheaper if she went for a cheaper SIM only option - the giffgaff £10 deal would mean a total cost of £740 over 24 months provided 250 mins is sufficient.

I like not being tied into a contract esp a 24 month one; free to do whatever I want.

carrielou2007 · 27/04/2012 17:27

I got the white one Grin 31 a month so 744 plus the handset was 29 not bad. They had the phone but not the sim so don't get that until tues then will get my 12 year old neice to teach me what to do with it!!

sparkle101 · 27/04/2012 17:29

Thanks guys, probably should have mentioned I decided upfront cost as didn't want to tie into £36 a month or similar as hoping to be on maternity soon so wouldn't have any money. Tied in for 12 mths at £15 so can cope with that and had money from bonus to buy upfront.

The carphone warehouse deal sounds great but circumstances dictated to pay more money now IYSWIM (although I feel like I have let you all down!!)
