Im getting frustrated by the number of apps that can't be installed on the sd card as the phone memory of my Samsung galaxy ace is getting full. Apparently you can get round this by 'rooting' the phone. Can this be done easily by a relatively techronologically inept person and are there any disadvantages to doing it?

My OH roots a lot of phones, he said get app 2sd from the market , this moves the data from the phone to the sd card and will free up more memory

I have the app2sd but there's still loads of apps that can't be moved, hence the question re rooting. Does your OH have any hints on how to do it?!

Rooting the phone only really gives you 'superuser' access.

Not all Android apps can be moved onto SD card. So not 100% sure if you will gain anything from rooting it that you can't get from app2sd.

Oh OK, thanks. Maybe I just have to accept that the Ace is limited in how much it can store and make sure I get a phone with a bigger internal memory on my next upgrade :)
