Set up Sky HD box - now text on TV screen is blurry, any ideas?

It's not actually an HD TV - but the deal on a new box was cheaper than getting someone out to look at my dead old box.

It's a fairly old JVC AV28-plus a bit more model.

I've set up the HD box fine but any text on the screen is blurry.
e.g. the scrolling news on BBC.
The picture looks ok to me.

A quick google has mystified me, something to do with pixels and hdmi and 720p Confused

The tv does not have an HDMI socket (or at least I'm pretty sure it doesn't) so the Sky box is connected with a Scart lead, as before.

Before, when you turned on the tv, the text would be blurry like this but when you pressed Sky on the remote it 'deblurred' /sharpened up, that doesn't happen now.

Any thoughts/ideas please?

I would say it is because it is not an HDTV although I might be wrong. It maybe your TV is on it's way out.

It could be, don't mind in some ways but hoping to put off the decision-making process for a bit longer.

I think it may be something to do with 'native resolution' but again, no real idea what that is or how to correct it.

You could see if altering the Scart Video Output option makes a difference. Press the Services button on the Sky remote then right arrow along to select the Settings menu. Use the Select key on the remote to highlight the Picture menu at the bottom of the screen. Down arrow to the Scart Video Output option and toggle between RGB and PAL and see if you notice a difference on screen.

Aftermath - you are a genius!!

I turned Scart Control to On, changed the Scart Video Output to RGB and it seems perfect Grin

That is soooo much better, think the picture was blurry too as it's miles better now.

Glad it worked, Just a heads up that you may need to toggle the RGB/PAL option every now and again as sometimes (no idea why ??? ) the rubbish picture comes back and I found that re-selecting RGB fixes it again.
