Kik messaging

DS is desperate to have this on his ipod touch. Does anyone have experience of it, is it safe, suitable for a 10 year old? He is deaf so can't use the phone, is this is good way for him to contact his mates or are there other things to consider?

It's a chat application so it's as safe as the people he's talking to.

You have to be given someone's nickname in Kik to add them and when I have used it, I didn't get any random people nor did my son who was 9 at the time on his iPod Touch.

There are others but he will want the one most of his mates use. There's little point in making him use a chat application no-one he knows is using.

I wouldnt get Kik. as far as I have heard it is virus heaven.

I've never heard of a virus on an ipod. Especially not one which hasn't been jailbroken.
