anybody got one? what kind? is it any good?

our radio reception is very poor in the kitchen for both FM & DAB (2 RSJs, plus a couple of big hills in the vicinity) & I'm thinking an internet receiver would get round that but looking for recommendations if poss, please Smile

\link{http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roberts-Stream-Stereo-Internet-Speaker/dp/B002VEN10O/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t\Roberts Stream 83i}

both have a lot of reviews on amazon & a fairly high average score (the Roberts is better)

comments?

You might as well but a decent pair of speakers and listen on-line one gets better sound quality and it?s less fiddly.

Ponders · 24/02/2012 21:30

listen to what, though? PC is upstairs - I want a kitchen radio!

listen to what, though? any internet Radio you choose.
.. do you have WiFi?

Ponders · 24/02/2012 22:00

you said 'a decent pair of speakers and listen on-line one gets better sound quality and it?s less fiddly' - but better sound quality & less fiddly than what?

yes, we have wi-fi

Better sound quality:- than the small speakers I see in the examples you gave (the Pure and the Roberts)
Less fiddly:- because I find it easier to choose the genre/station on a PC.

thanks, Dan, but you're not helping!

my PC is upstairs, so no use in the kitchen (don't want to have to trail wires to speakers downstairs, or leg it upstairs to change stations Hmm)

the radio I have now (Roberts DAB/FM, poor reception for reasons stated) has speakers exactly like the internet ones I linked to, so sound quality isn't an issue; decent consistent reception is more important

so I'm looking for recommendations for a good internet radio receiver, pref with ipod dock as well, that isn't a silly price

Fair enough, I?m afraid I have no experience of a ?separate box? ?internet radio? receiving signals via WiFi. Looking at the two examples I would choose the Roberts.

I use my PC and its super dooper woofer speakers.

If your iPod is a touch, you can listen to Internet radio via an app - I use tunein radio - so you'd only need a speaker dock.

Ponders · 25/02/2012 00:01

thanks, Rusty - I don't have one though, I'm afraid Sad

(DSs cook when they're home, they have ipods & like to connect them to whatever is there so it would be a bonus if I can find one with a dock. but they can connect with a wire thingy if necessary)
